Understanding what data is collected when you take a SwiftSurvey survey helps you make informed decisions about which surveys to complete and whether to share personal information.
What data is collected
The survey creator determines what information is collected. This typically includes your answers to survey questions. If the creator is on a paid plan and has not enabled anonymous mode, SwiftSurvey may also collect device metadata such as browser type, operating system, approximate location derived from IP address, and submission timestamp. This data helps creators understand response patterns and detect fraudulent submissions. You are always shown exactly which questions require an answer and which are optional.
Anonymous surveys
If the survey is marked as anonymous (indicated by a banner at the top of the survey), no identifying metadata is collected. Your IP address, browser details, and precise submission time are not stored. Only your answers are recorded, and they cannot be traced back to you. Anonymous surveys are a safe way to provide honest feedback on sensitive topics.
Your rights
- Right to know — You have the right to understand what data is being collected about you. Contact the survey creator for specifics about their data practices.
- Right to opt out — You can exit a survey at any time without penalty. Partial responses may be saved depending on the creator's settings.
- Right to deletion — You can request deletion of your responses by contacting the survey creator or the SwiftSurvey privacy team at privacy@swiftsurvey.co.ke.
- Data retention — Each survey creator sets their own retention policy. Responses may be stored indefinitely or auto-deleted after a set period.
