Privacy & data handling

SwiftSurvey is built with privacy at its core. As a survey creator, you control what data is collected, how long it is retained, and whether responses are anonymous. This article covers the privacy features available to you and how we handle your data.

SwiftSurvey — Privacy & data handling

Anonymous mode

Enable anonymous mode in survey settings to strip all identifying metadata from responses. When enabled, SwiftSurvey does not collect IP addresses, browser fingerprints, or precise submission timestamps. Respondents are shown a notice confirming their answers are anonymous, which encourages more honest responses — especially for sensitive or controversial topics. Anonymous mode is irreversible: once a response is collected anonymously, metadata cannot be recovered later.

Data storage and encryption

All survey data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.3 and at rest using AES-256 encryption. Response data is stored in regional data centers, and Pro and Enterprise customers can choose their data region (US, EU, or Asia-Pacific) to meet compliance requirements. SwiftSurvey maintains SOC 2 Type II certification and undergoes regular third-party security audits.

Data retention

You control how long responses are retained. The default is indefinite retention, but you can configure auto-deletion rules (e.g., delete responses older than 90 days) from survey settings. Deleting a survey permanently removes all associated responses. You can also delete individual responses from the Responses tab.

Compliance

SwiftSurvey is GDPR compliant and provides a Data Processing Agreement (DPA) for all paid plans. Enterprise customers can request HIPAA-compliant data handling with a Business Associate Agreement (BAA). Review our full Privacy Policy and Terms of Service for complete details on our data practices.
